The Lancaster, Pennsylvania-based company said it had profit of $1.06 per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to $1.22 per share.

The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.03 per share.

The ceiling and wall systems manufacturer posted revenue of $312.3 million in the period, which also topped Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $307.9 million.

For the year, the company reported profit of $223.8 million, or $4.99 per share. Revenue was reported as $1.3 billion.

Armstrong World Industries expects full-year earnings in the range of $5.60 to $5.90 per share, with revenue in the range of $1.34 billion to $1.38 billion.

Armstrong World Industries shares have climbed almost 7% since the beginning of the year. The stock has climbed 29% in the last 12 months.
