BAE Systems announces that it has been awarded a contract worth up to $318 million from the US Army to provide technical and sustainment support for the M109 (A6 and A7) self-propelled howitzers. Also included are the M992A3 (CAT) tracked and ammunition-carrying vehicles.

The five-year contract also includes ongoing engineering and logistics services.

' The M109 self-propelled howitzer continues to prove itself as the 'king of the battlefield', thanks to its firepower and maneuverability', said Dan Furber, Director of Land Vehicle Production for BAE Systems' Combat Mission Systems business.

M109 sustainment services enable the US Army to maintain a high level of operational readiness to use this powerful capability in combat', he added.
