German chemical giant BASF announced on Wednesday that it plans to build a hydrogen refueling station with its compatriot H2 Mobility, scheduled to go into operation in the fourth quarter in Frankenthal, in the southwest of Germany.

In a press release, the two groups state that the station should initially have a capacity of 700 to 800 kilograms per day, enough to power around 30 buses.

In view of growing demand in the region, particularly from heavy goods vehicles, the center's capacity should then double by 2027.

According to the partners, the site will benefit from a "strategic" and "easily accessible" position for logistics carriers, thanks to its proximity to the A6 freeway.
