Belje d.d., a member of Fortenova Group, is in final talks for the purchase of the local production capacities of MEGGLE Hrvatska d.o.o, which plans to exit the Adriatic country by the end of 2020, Croatian media reported. According to unofficial information, the two companies are holding negotiations on the final details of the deal which is expected to be signed very soon, news daily Poslovni Dnevnik reported on October 19, 2020. Both sides are still unwilling to confirm the information officially, Poslovni added. According to the media report, Belje is ready to continue cooperating with all of the 282 local dairy farms that are suppliers of Meggle, as well as to keep some 70% of the 160 employees of Meggle Croatia. Meggle Croatia will reportedly pay HRK 8 million ($1.25 million/€1.05 million) in severance pay to its workers prior to the planned exit, which is 25% above the legally required amount.
