BlackRock New York Municipal Income Trust (the Trust) is a closed-end management investment company. The Trust's investment objective is to provide current income exempt from regular United States federal income tax and New York State and New York City personal income taxes. The Trust seeks to achieve its investment objective by investing primarily in municipal bonds exempt from United States federal income taxes (except that the interest may be subject to the federal alternative minimum tax) and New York State and New York City personal income taxes. The Trust invests at least 80% of its assets in municipal bonds that are investment-grade quality at the time of investment. The Trust may invest directly in securities or synthetically through the use of derivatives. It invests in various sectors, including transportation, county/city/special district/school district, utilities, state, education, housing, health, corporate, and tobacco.
