Information presented in the Data Supplement pertains to the sustainability performance of the consolidated entity ('BlueScope' or 'the Group'), consisting of BlueScope Steel Limited ('the Company') and its controlled entities for the year ended 30 June 2022.

Except where otherwise stated, references to 'we', 'us' and 'our' refer to BlueScope including the reporting entities above (and excludes BlueScope Coated Products and BlueScope Recycling and Materials, unless otherwise stated). Unless otherwise stated, environmental data is reported utilising an equity share approach, production and safety metrics reported on a financial control basis and people data is reported on

a head count basis. All financial information is reported in Australian Dollars unless otherwise stated.

This year's Supplement includes three new sections:

  • Our inaugural UN Global Compact Communication on Progress (COP)
  • Detailed information regarding our Scope 3 emissions inventory
  • An overview of our sustainable product credentials (i.e. ecolabels etc) by type, product and region.

BlueScope endeavours to ensure the data in the FY2022 Sustainability Report and the Supplement is as accurate and up to date as possible to enable stakeholders to understand our performance and compare it to prior periods. Where appropriate, historical data has been restated to present data on a consistent and comparable basis and an explanation is provided.

We have sought external assurance over a selection of disclosures in the FY2022 Sustainability Report. Refer to pages 08-09 of the Data Supplement for the Limited Assurance Report, which also outlines the scope of the metrics covered by assurance.

Our FY2022 Sustainability Report presents material sustainability information in line with generally accepted disclosure frameworks and BlueScope's corporate approach for reasonable and responsible disclosure.

The Report has been prepared in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards at a Core level. We provide climate-related disclosures in alignment with the Recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD). We have also identified our reporting metrics that are consistent with the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) Industry Standard for Iron and Steel Producers and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. We will continue to consider emerging sustainability frameworks and standards (such as those being developed by the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB)), and their applicability to our sustainability disclosure suite in future reporting periods.

The following page outlines how our sustainability outcomes and material topics (outlined on page 04 of the Report) are aligned to the disclosure frameworks described above.
