ANIMAL DERIVED MATERIALS POLICY

At boohoo group plc, we believe that it is never right to cause harm or pain to animals during the making or testing of our products. In committing to work this way, and by giving our suppliers clear standards to comply with, our customers still get great products and no animals suffer. Our policy does not just cover the use of animal skins; it sets standards for the use of any animal derived product, and it states clearly which materials we will never use. As a minimum, the Group aligns to the Five Freedoms, which capture the following key aspects of animal welfare:

  1. Freedom from hunger and thirst: by ready access to fresh water and a diet to maintain full health and vigour.
  2. Freedom from discomfort: by providing an appropriate environment including shelter and a comfortable resting area.
  3. Freedom from pain, injury or disease: by prevention through rapid diagnosis and treatment.
  4. Freedom to express normal behaviour: by providing sufficient space, proper facilities and company of the animal's own kind.
  5. Freedom from fear and distress: by ensuring conditions and treatment which avoid mental suffering.
