Bristol Myers Squibb today unveiled a $1.8 million initiative to advance health equity by addressing the social determinants of health (SDoH) in Brazil, India, Thailand and the UK.

The World Health Organization (WHO) defines SDoH as non-medical factors that influence health outcomes. These include: income and social status, education, physical environment, social support networks, genetics, health services and gender.

The new health equity grants build on the company's broader, long-term commitment to invest $150 million in health equity by 2025.

"These new health equity grants reinforce Bristol Myers Squibb's commitment to ensuring that all patients have access to high-quality healthcare, no matter where they live," commented Cari Gallman, executive vice president of corporate affairs at Bristol Myers Squibb.
