(Alliance News) - Brooks Macdonald Group PLC on Thursday said it appointed Andrea Montague as an chief financial officer, effective August 1 and subject to regulatory approval.

The AIM-listed wealth manager pointed to Montague's "breadth of experience" in the UK long-term savings and asset management sector.

Montague was most recently chief risk officer at Aviva PLC, after serving as chief financial controller at the London-based insurer, Brooks MacDonald said.

"She was the outstanding candidate in a strong field and the depth of her experience will be enormously valuable to the group in continuing to drive forward our ambitious growth strategy," said Brooks Macdonald Acting Chair Richard Price.

Incoming CFO Montague said of her own appointment: "I am excited to join Brooks Macdonald, a business with a strong focus and a clear strategy. I look forward to working with Andrew Shepherd, his team and the board to accelerate the company's growth."

Shares in Brooks Macdonald were up 1.4% to 1,891.50 pence each in London on Thursday before midday, while Aviva shares were down 0.8% to 397.70p each.
