João Abecasis has been appointed EVP Asia, effective 1 September.
João has made significant contributions across a number of critical business areas and markets since joining the company in 2011. These include roles as CCO and later CEO of Super Bock Portugal, VP Challenger Markets in the WE region, (interim) Managing Director of Carlsberg Denmark and Managing Director of Kronenbourg, France.
Since 2019, under João's leadership, Group Commercial have been critical champions of Carlsberg's strategic commercial agenda and contributed to our SAIL'27 strategy, where Asia is an important region for us and a significant factor in reaching our ambitions for the future. João will be based in Hong Kong.
In the interim, Søren Brinck, EVP Group Strategy, will take the position of acting CCO, in addition to his current responsibilities. Søren has held a number of key leadership positions across the Group, giving him a strong commercial understanding to effectively support Group Commercial during this period.

Carlsberg A/S is one of the world's leading beer producers. Net sales break down by activity as follows:
- beer production and sales: 101 million hectoliters sold in 2023 primarily under the Carlsberg and Tuborg brands;
- production, bottling, and distribution of non-alcoholic beverages: carbonated beverages, energy drinks, and mineral waters (24.1 million hectoliters sold in 2022).
At the end of 2023, the group had 71 breweries located in Denmark, in the United Kingdom (3), in Poland (3), in Germany (3), in Western Europe (6), in China (26), in Asia (14), and in Central/Eastern Europe (15).
Net sales are distributed geographically as follows: Western Europe (50.7%), Asia (31.7%), Eastern and Central Europe (17.6%).
