Moscow, Russia - June 28, 2016 - The first phase of Cherkizovo Group's Tambov Turkey project won the agriculture category of the 'Event of the year. Russia 2015' online vote, hosted by the publication, Vremya Rossii.

'Event of the year. Russia 2015' is a platform to promote industrial and infrastructure projects of national significance. All nominated projects represent investments of over RUB 1 billion. As well as the size of the investment, the panel takes the level of innovation the project displays, as well as the number of jobs created, into consideration when selecting nominations. Internet users then vote for their preferred project in each category.

A total of 20 agricultural companies including 'Sadi Pridonia', 'Ovoshi of Stavropol Region', 'Agro Belogorye', 'Russol', 'Utiniye fermi', 'United confectioneries', 'Agroeko' were nominated in the agriculture category and Tambov Turkey won three times more votes than any other nominee.

Tambov Turkey is a joint venture between Cherkizovo Group and Grupo Fuertes, Spain's leading turkey producer. A total of approximately RUB 8 billion has been invested in the project along with regional investment of RUB 1.7 billion into local infrastructure and utilities.

The first phase of the project comprises weaning and finisher sites, as well as a state-of-the art modern hatchery with an annual capacity of 5.9 million eggs. A feed mill and grain elevator with annual capacities of 180,000 tons and 90,000 tons, respectively, along with a slaughter site and modern waste treatment facilities, will be built within the scope of the project. Tambov Turkey's current annual live weight production capacity is 50,000 tons, but output can be doubled as necessity arises.
