Continental Tire the Americas (Continental) today officially opened a new, sustainably designed facility in Fort Mill, South Carolina.

The 90,000-square-foot (over 8300 m2) state-of-the-art building, located in northern Lancaster County, can accommodate 350 employees and is designed and built for future expansion potential.

' Who would have imagined, when we moved to En South Carolina in 2009, that we would have invested over $800 million in our facilities across the state', commented Jochen Etzel, Continental Tire's Managing Director for the Americas.

'The US is a strategic growth market for Continental and in particular for our Tires business', he added.

Outside, the parking area includes 10 charging stations for electric vehicles and motorcycles. A total of 840 solar panels are located on the roof and in the parking lot, helping to offset up to 25% of the building's total energy consumption.
