Australia's S&P/ASX 200 is on track to open steady after U.S. stocks closed with little change. ASX futures are effectively flat, suggesting an uncertain start following Wednesday's 0.9% decline. Weak mining stocks drove the benchmark index's pullback following four consecutive trading-day gains. Ahead of the open, CSR announced a A$100 million share buyback and HRL Holdings recommended a takeover offer by ALS. The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 0.3% as investors looked toward the next round of quarterly earnings reports. The S&P 500 fell by less than 0.1% and the Nasdaq Composite Index closed flat.
