-CVS and Walgreens, the two largest U.S. pharmacy chains, will start dispensing the abortion pill mifepristone this month in a step that could make access easier for some patients, the New York Times reports.

-CVS and Walgreens received certification to dispense mifepristone under guidelines that the Food and Drug Administration issued last year, the Times reports, citing company officials.

-The chains plan to make the medication available in stores in a handful of states at first and won't be providing the medication by mail, according to the report.
