Dollar General is pulling self-checkout lanes from 300 locations due to retail theft.

The technology is up and running more than 14,000 stores, according to a New York Post report.

Retail shrink is increasing and having a big impact on the retailer's gross profit.

The retailer is also converting self-checkout registers to assisted checkout in about 9,000 stores, according to the news report, and limiting remaining self-checkout to five products or less.
