DP World Limited is looking for acquisitions in Singapore. DP World is in the process of buying at least two companies here over the coming months -- just two years after it relocated its Asia-Pacific headquarters to Singapore. Mr. Glen Hilton, its Regional Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, told The Straits Times in a recent interview that the acquisitions will likely expand the firm's Asia-Pacific operations in Singapore, including adding to its 70-strong head count and moving to more spacious premises.

The potential acquisitions are in the space of logistics, where the company has invested aggressively in recent years, providing services such as contract logistics, freight forwarding and warehousing. Mr. Hilton did not name any company or give any specific detail but revealed that DP World has a pipeline of more than 15 acquisitions in Asia alone. "I would expect that we will be able to announce some of those soon, certainly in the first quarter of next year.

And again, that's all about building capability, expanding our market presence and engaging with our customers," he said. Mr. Hilton expects DP World's operations in Singapore to keep expanding in the coming years, in line with the company's plans to boost its footprint, and the capacity to handle cargo, storage and transport of goods across this region.
