UAE national ID as health insurance card

In line with the decision issued by Dubai Health Authority (DHS) to merge the health insurance card with the ID card issued by the Emirates Identity Authority, Dubai Islamic Insurance and Reinsurance 'Aman', a leading company in insurance field, especially in life and health insurance, has merged the insurance card issued by Aman to its customers with the UAE ID card.

Aman is the UAE's first insurance company to take this step reflecting its compliance with strategies of DHA. The authority seeks to change the insurance systems in the emirate of Dubai to be merged with the ID card, which will replace the insurance card.

Jihad Faitrouni, CEO of Aman, said 'Merging the health insurance card with the ID card, will greatly contribute to curbing the fraud, waste and misusing of the service. The ID card enables to verify identity of the beneficiary registered in the insurance company, as all data will be available on the smart program through which the merging process will be completed once the ID card swiped on e-reader.'

He stressed commitment of Aman to provide Takaful insurance services meeting the highest world standards through a comprehensive and distinct system in the field of Islamic insurance and reinsurance. It further adopts strategy aims to support stability and security of the UAE' society through providing excellent insurance services, Faitrouni added.

The Emirates ID card contains the personal information of its holder, including ID number, name, nationality, passport data, digital certificate, and others, alongside the fingerprint and personal picture. It is a national project which represents a leap in civilization and tremendous technology in the UAE.

The Emirates Identity Authority holds the international standards certificate in the ID card, which has multiple applications and matches the general specifications of the International Forum for Smart cards. This confirms that the ID card is supported with the most advanced security features meeting the international standards for data printed and stored in electronic chip. It is also a recognition that the UAE ID card conforms the standards of the International Organization of Standardization of ID Card, and conforms the standards of Java Card. Furthermore, it meets standards and specifications of the Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) for travel documents.

The Emirates ID card is also distinguished by its compliance with the Evaluation Assurance Level (EAL5), which is one of the highest security levels of chip, and ensures an utmost protection of the stored data on the chip from manipulation and forgery
