The 50-50JVwillleverage on Parry Nutra's Spirulina cultivation strengths and Synthite's extraction capabilities makingita good strategicfitforboth the partners.Inaddition,theirstrengths in marketingwillbe synergistic,withParry Nutraceuticals focusing on the humannutritionsegment and Synthite Industries on the food colours and additives segment. The Joint Venture Companywillset up a manufacturing facility in Tamil NaduwithaninvestmentofaroundRs.40croresfortheproductionofPhycocyanin, a natural blue pigment extractedfromSpirulina. Phycocyaninisa complexoflight-harvesting proteins, extractedfromSpirulina which has a characteristic deep blue colour. Phycocyanin offers excellent stability and flexibilityforapplication in a varietyoffood and beverages andisapproved by all major regulatory bodies inUSA,EU,Japan and South Koreaasfood colour.
