Chennai,9thMay2018:EIDParry (India) Limited, oneofthelargestmanufacturersofSugar in India,hasreportedfinancial results forthequarterandyearended31stMarch 2018.

Consolidatedperformancefortheyearended31stMarch2018andQ4 (Jan'18-Mar'18):

The consolidated revenue from operations forthequarterended31stMarch 2018, wasRs.3,387 Crores registering a decline of 1%in comparison to the correspondingquarterof previousyearof RS.3428 Crores. Profit before depreciation,interestandtaxes(EBITDA)forthequarterended31stMarch2018ofRs.255 Crores against correspondingquarterof previousyearofRs.472 Crores. Consolidated profitaftertaxandminorityinterestwasRs.11Crores compared to Rs.248 Crores in correspondingquarterofprevious year.

The consolidated revenue from operations fortheyearended31stMarch2018wasRs.15,438

Crores registering a increaseof5%against previousyearofRs.14,667 Crores. Profit before depreciation,interestandtaxes(EBITDA)fortheyearended31stMarch2018was Rs.1455 Crores registering a declineof8%against previous year of RS.1585 Crores. Consolidatedprofitafter taxandminorityinterestisRs.256Crores against previousyearof Rs.521 Crores.

Standaloneperformancefortheyearended31stMarch2018andQ4 (Jan'18-Mar'18):

The Standalone revenue from continuing operations forthequarterended31stMarch2018was Rs.432 Crores in comparison to the correspondingquarterof previousyearofRs727Crores.

Profit before depreciation,interestandtaxes(EBITDA)from continuing operations forthequarterendedwereRs.153 Crores in comparison tothecorrespondingquarterof previousyearofRs.180 Crores.Standalone profit after tax from continuing operations forthequarteris Rs.I09 Crores as againstcorrespondingquarterofpreviousyearRs.157 Crores, while the profit after tax from discontinued operations was Rs.14 crore forthequarteras compared to Rs.7 crore inthecorrespondingquarteroftheprevious year.

The Standalonerevenuefrom continuing operations fortheyearended31stMarch2018was Rs.1942 Crores against previousyearof Rs.2,355 Crores and Profit before depreciation,interestandtaxes(EBITDA)from continuing operations fortheyearendedwas Rs.274 Crores against previousyearofRs.493 Crores. Standalone Profit after tax from continuing operations was Rs.81 Crores as againstRs.274Crores intheprevious year, whiletheprofit after tax from discontinued operations fortheyearwasRs.20croreas against Rs.I0 crore in the previous year.

The Consolidated Farm Inputsoperationsreportedanoperatingprofitof RS.175 Crores (correspondingquarterofprevious year: Rs.267 Crores) forthequarter.

Bio-products

Forthequarter, Bio-products Division (comprising Bio-PesticidesandNutraceuticaIs)reportedanoperatingprofitofRs.16Crores(correspondingquarterof previousyearofRs.15 Crores).

HiveoffofBio-pesticidesdivision:

The Company has hived off theBio- Pesticides divisionofthecompany and itsinvestmentin Parry America Inc (a whollyownedsubsidiaryoftheCompany) in April2018to its subsidiary,CoromandellnternationalLimited, for a considerationofRs.338.01 Crores.

ProposedDividend

The BoardofDirectorsatits meeting held onMay09,2018haverecommendeda final dividend ofRs.3.00perequityshare(300%on face value of Re.1 each).

MrS.Suresh,ManagingDirectorcommentingonthestandaloneresultsfortheyearmentionedasfollows:

"TheperformanceoftheCompany has been impactedduetodepressedsugar prices, largelyonaccountofmorethan50%highersugarproductionin thecountrythan previous sugarseasonanddueto higher cane prices. Further, sales inQ417-18was impactedduetothestock limitimposedbytheGovernmentofIndia forFebruaryand March 2018.

Tamilnadu continues to reelunderdroughtconditions forthelasttwoyears, whichhadimpacted the cane availabilityandresultedinlowestproductionofsugarduringthecurrentyear.

Inadditiontothis,theCompanyhasmadean one-timesettlementofadditional cane priceofRs.87croreforsugaryears2013-14to2016-17 which hasbeenagreedwiththe farmers registered withtheCompanyinTamilnadu. The GovernmentofTamilnaduhastakenup the initiative to introducetherevenuesharingpricefor sugar seasonstarting2018-19.

The Companyimportedandprocessedrawsugarandmolasses toreducetheimpactof above factorsandensuredbettercapacity utilisation. The Companyhadundertakendebottlenecking activities in KarnatakaandAndhraplantswherethereisbettercane availabilityandhigher recovery to improve operational performance. Intermsofsales,theCompany has initiated various actionstoincrease itsfootprintin retailsegmentthroughproductdifferentiation, while continuing tobemarketleaderin institutional segment.

FY2018-19looks tobechallenging withdepressedsugarpricesandcontinuingdroughtconditions in Tamilnadu and expectedhighersugar production inthecountryforsugarseason 2018-19.

TheimprovedperformanceoftheBio Pesticides DivisionoftheCompanyduringtheyearwasduetobettermarginsandimprovedsales. Nutraceuticals division had amutedperformanceduetodropin Iycopeneandtradeproductsales.
