E Ink Holdings Inc., the creator of ePaper technology, has partnered with Sharp Corporation to release ePaper posters in digital signage, according to a press release.

After three years of collaboration, the partners plan to launch the first 42-inch ePaper poster at global exhibitions throughout April 2023. ePaper technology is designed to consume no power in displaying information (though small amounts of power are required to change the displayed images).

"We are excited to work with Sharp on the expansion of their ePaper ePoster," Naoki Sumita, president of sales and marketing for Japan at E Ink, said in the release. "As cities and communities look to reduce their carbon footprint, E Ink offers a grid-free solution to enable their sustainability efforts."

"We are honored to be able to contribute to the development of the digital poster market with E Ink, the leader in digital paper technology," Tetsuji Kawamura, Sharp executive officer and BU President of smart business solutions BU, said in the release. "When it comes to digital signage, the achievement of digital posters with a power consumption of 0 W during use is a ground-breaking step in working towards creating a new market suitable for the carbon-neutral era."
