Ecopetrol was ranked for the first time among the oil and gas companies in the world with the best rating in terms of water care and management, according to the water security performance assessment of CDP, a leading international organization in the environmental disclosure and assessment of companies on climate change forests and water, globally.

The company obtained the A- Rating, which places it at the Leadership level, exceeding the average of the companies from different sectors that participated in the measurement (B: Management), and above the sector average, which was placed at level C (Awareness).

The CDP highlighted Ecopetrol for its procedures in reporting metrics, evaluation of impacts, risks and opportunities associated with water, as well as for its policies and its ambition to achieve the goal of water neutrality.

This goal consists of achieving the balance between the water required to operate and actions that reduce the direct water footprint, as much as economically and technically possible, and replenishing at least 100% of water consumption through compensation projects in the basins where the company operates.

In this sense, Ecopetrol advances in the implementation of best practices for the management and care of water resources in Colombia, which made it possible to achieve recognition.

CDP Water Security's annual environmental scoring and disclosure process is recognized globally as the gold standard of corporate environmental transparency, supported by investors globally who have asked companies to disclose data on environmental impacts, risks and opportunities through the organization's platform.

More than 3,000 companies from all sectors globally participated in the 2023 survey, disclosing their water security management to CDP.
