At Ecopetrol, the application of diversity, equity and inclusion policies and programs has made it possible to verify that there are currently no limits or roles forbidden to women, in an industry that until some time ago was considered masculine.

Proof of this is the growth in the last five years in the employment of women and especially in the leadership positions held by women.

Today, Ecopetrol generates about 3,800 more jobs for women directly and through contractor companies, compared to 2018.

Of the total number of female workers, 1,567 hold roles in positions related to science, technology, engineering and mathematics, in which historically there was a low participation of female labor.

On the other hand, of the total number of leadership positions, 267 women hold management positions in vice-presidencies, management, chiefs and coordinations, which is equivalent to 31% of the company's total number of leaders.

In addition to the above, there has been an increase in female participation at Board of Directors levels, which went from 0% in 2018 to 33% today.

This process is strengthened by the participation of a considerable number of women in succession and high-potential programmes. Thus, 36% of the people who make a career to occupy future leadership positions are women and 48% of the population identified as having high potential is female, which means that due to their competencies and abilities they can take on highly complex professional challenges.

Meanwhile, 121 young women, corresponding to 46% of the total, are part of the Ecopetrol Seedbeds program, a commitment to the female leadership of the future.

In addition, the company supports 700 productive ventures led by women or that employ female labor. In 2023, the commercial activities of the nearly 2,200 ventures supported by Ecopetrol generated more than $79 billion in sales.

Likewise, the company promotes the She is an Astronaut Program, led by the 'She Is' Foundation, which in three years has benefited 500 Colombian girls to promote STEAM careers: Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
