(Alliance News) - ECR Minerals PLC on Thursday said its chair has stepped down from his role, remaining as a non-executive director, while the company also named a successor.

The Australia-focused gold exploration company said David Tang stepped down, appointing Nick Tulloch as his replacement, in addition to Tulloch's role as an executive director.

It also noted the appointment of Trevor Davenport as senior independent director.

"My thanks to David who has led ECR through a very challenging period with great diligence and commitment. I was honoured that he asked me to take over as chairman," said Tulloch.

"We have been implementing a number of changes to ECR in recent months and there is still a great deal to accomplish. As we move into this next phase, I am pleased that we will continue to benefit from David's wise counsel and detailed knowledge of our operations."

Shares in ECR Minerals fell 1.3% to 0.24 pence each in London on Thursday afternoon.
