First Nickel Inc. reported that the Ontario Ministry of Labour has released the suspension of underground operations in all areas of the mine, except for the level where the accident occurred on May 6, which remains under restricted access. This follows an underground inspection by the Ministry on May 7, 2014. The company will continue to facilitate the on-going Ministry investigation into the accident, which will continue for an undetermined length of time.

The company will begin recalling its workforce later on May 8. Prior to resuming operations, employees will be reintegrated into the worksite through a series of sessions designed to provide a safety reorientation, which will reconfirm the company's commitment to providing a safe working environment for employees and contractors.
