Gränges forms recycling partnership in the US

Gränges has formed a strategic, long-term partnership with Scepter, Inc. for supply of scrap-based aluminium ingots to its rolling and recycling centers in the United States. Securing access to recycled and low-carbon input materials is a key enabler for Gränges to offer circular and sustainable aluminium solutions to its customers and achieve its 2040 net-zero goal.

Through the ten-year agreement, Gränges Americas will source scrap-based aluminium ingots from the aluminium recycler Scepter to its production of near-zero aluminium solutions. The carbon emissions intensity of the sourced ingots is estimated to be 0.3 tonnes CO2e/tonne, and Gränges plans to power its production processes with renewable electricity. This will strengthen Gränges' capability to offer customers and end-users industry-leading circular and sustainable aluminium solutions.

"Gränges is committed to reducing the carbon footprint of our products and thereby also helping our customers on their decarbonization journey. This agreement is a significant step towards advancing our sustainability goals and providing low-carbon solutions for our customers," said Patrick Lawlor, President of Gränges Americas. "This helps Gränges remain at the forefront in our industry as it enables us to offer closed-loop recycling and circularity partnerships to our customers in the HVAC, specialty packaging, building and construction, and automotive industries."

"We are very proud to enter into this long-term agreement with Gränges, a global aluminum company at the cutting edge of sustainability and decarbonization efforts in the industry. It will allow us to expand on our vision, leverage our resources, and deliver the highest quality low-carbon ingots. We look forward to future growth with Gränges in the US," said Garney Scott, CEO of Scepter.

The driving force behind the partnership is a shared vision of creating a more sustainable future. Gränges and Scepter are committed to reducing the climate impact of aluminum foil production, conserving resources, and delivering innovative customer solutions that meet the demands of a changing world.
