Highlights of the 7th CSR Health Impact Awards IHW - Category "Water for ALL"
Initiatives taken in Nagda, MP:
In six villages, we are managing village-level dams
Four major dams on the Chambal River at Amlavda, Bika, Piploda and Nagda
Two water reservoirs have been constructed at Takravda and Jalwal villages
Two ponds were constructed in villages Parmarkhedi & Kilodia
Four check dams were renovated in Parmarkhedi, Bhimpura, Gidgarh and Jhanjhakhedi
Installation of reverse osmosis (RO) plants for safe drinking water in the villages was also undertaken.
Rainwater harvesting
22 villages covered under the Nal Jal Yojana were provided safe drinking water
Training, exposure and orientation about new techniques and technology have been conducted in various villages. About 1,486 farmers have benefited.
About 7,600 fruit saplings have been provided to about 245 farmers as part of orchard/horticulture development.
As many as 55 families have benefitted through the construction of 80 units of vermicomposting, NADEP and biogas.
250 units of drip and sprinkler systems have been provided.
Integrated Livestock Project implemented in 35 villages. Cattle rearing is an important means of livelihood for farmers in the villages. Three centres equipped with all equipment have been providing livestock services to 12 villages. So far, 3,923 artificial inseminations have been done in 35 villages by the LDC centres.
So far, 1,712 cattle fertilisation check-ups have been conducted and success achieved in 922 cattle. It has resulted in 1279 new breed calves from cows and buffaloes.
About 298kg of fodder seeds were provided to 225 farmers in 18 villages under the fodder demonstration programme.
About 352kg of mineral mixture was provided in 22 villages for improved feeding of cattle.
Animal health camps organised across 42 villages. About 3,716 cattle have been dewormed in 28 villages and 14,110 cattle vaccinated in 42 villages.
For the benefit of livestock, 220 water tanks have been provided in 29 villages. It has benefitted close to 6,000 animals.
Capacity building programmes organised for more than 5000 dairy farmers.
Impact Generated:
Throughout the year, villagers have sufficient drinking water availability.
Water table has gradually improved in the target villages.
Increase in crop productivity and provided the foundation for sustainable livelihood projects such as dairy farming.
Increase income through intensification & diversification in agriculture
Develop alternative sources of income through the promotion of WADI for farmers
Promote organic agricultural practices through vermicomposting and the use of biogas slurry
Creation of cattle breeding facilities in 35 villages
It has contributed to the ecosystem and greenbelt development
