Grupo Media Capital, SGPS, S.A. Announced earnings results for the third quarter ended September 30, 2019. For the third quarter, the company announced total revenue was EUR 31.875 million compared to EUR 39.127 million a year ago. Operating loss was EUR 5.530 million compared to operating Income of EUR 3.142 million a year ago. Net loss was EUR 4.705 million compared to net income of EUR 1.589 million a year ago. Basic loss per share from continuing operations was EUR 0.0557 compared to basic earnings per share from continuing operations of EUR 0.0188 a year ago. For the nine months, total revenue was EUR 118.257 million compared to EUR 126.003 million a year ago. Operating income was EUR 4.313 million compared to EUR 19.541 million a year ago. Net income was EUR 1.185 million compared to EUR 12.081 million a year ago. Basic earnings per share from continuing operations was EUR 0.014 compared to EUR 0.1429 a year ago.
Grupo Média Capital, SGPS, S.A. is one the leading Portuguese media groups. Net sales (excluding businesses in the process of being sold) break down by activity as follows:
- operation of a TV channel (56.5%): operation of the general-interest TVI channel;
- production of televised programs (16.7%; NBP; No. 1 in Portugal): series, soap operas and movies;
- other (26.8%): operation of Internet portals, publishing of music CDs and DVDs, event organization, distribution of films in theaters, DVD distribution, sales of audiovisual rights, etc.
Net sales (excluding businesses in the process of being sold) break down by source of income between sales of advertising space (53.9%), and other (46.1%).
