HONOLULU, March 22, 2024 - Hawaiian Electric crews will straighten two utility poles Monday, March 25, near Liliha Public Library, impacting morning and afternoon mauka-bound traffic on Liliha Street approaching the library. The work is being scheduled in consideration of the library's usual Monday closure.

The utility pole work will be performed within the library parking lot, but mauka-bound traffic on Liliha St. approaching the library and H-1 Freeway eastbound onramp may slow down for approximately an hour starting at 8:30 a.m. while multiple utility trucks set up for construction. In the afternoon, traffic may slow in the area for about an hour around 2 p.m. as trucks leave the parking lot.

Special duty police and flagmen will help with onsite traffic control. Motorists can expect brief stoppages while trucks back into and leave the parking lot and should drive with caution when approaching and passing the work zone, expect traffic delays or use alternate routes.
