Heineken: investment in UK pubs
The Dutch beer giant explains that its project, which should result in the creation of 1,075 jobs, aims to reposition these 'outdated' establishments, often located in the suburbs, as 'premium' bars, geared towards the upmarket segment.
By the end of the year, 156 pubs should have reopened, meaning that the number of closed establishments will be back to the lowest level since 2019, before the Covid epidemic.
The brewer says the refurbishments, which aim to enhance the appeal of each pub by providing customers with new reasons to visit, will offer 'classic and elegant' fittings, with 'high' ambitions for both washrooms and gardens.
Heineken currently operates some 2,400 pubs in the UK under the 'Star Pubs' banner.
