Hines Global REIT, Inc. is engaged primarily in investing in a diversified portfolio of commercial real estate properties and other real estate investments located throughout the United States and internationally. The Company has four operating segments: Domestic office investments, Domestic other investments, International office investments and International other investments. As of December 31, 2015, the Company's Domestic office investments segment consisted of 11 office properties; the Domestic other investments segment had nine properties; the International office investments segment consisted of 10 office properties, and the International other investments segment had 12 properties, which consists of industrial and mixed-use properties. The Company conducts its activities through Hines Global REIT Properties, LP (the Operating Partnership), and its real estate investments are held directly or indirectly by the Operating Partnership.
