Huvis : Korea Textile Smart Processing Institute signs an MOU for the development of cool-to-touch composite functional materials

Huvis (CEO You Dong Shin, 079980) and Korea Textile Smart Processing Institute (chairperson Gwi Young Noh, research director Seong Gi Jeon) announced on December 15 that they had entered into an MOU for the 'development and commercialization of cool-to-touch composite functional materials' on December 14.

The signing ceremony held at Huvis R&D Center was attended by high-ranking officials from both organizations, including Seong Yoon Park, head of Huvis R&D Center, and Jeon Seong-gi, head of Korea Textile Smart Processing Institute. Korea Textile Smart Processing Institute is discovering and supporting various R&D technology exchanges as well as materials, design, and dyeing and finishing technologies for daily life/industrial textiles.

According to the MOU, the two organizations are expected to create high added value in the domestic cool-to-touch material industry by 'researching and developing products using cool-to-touch composite functional materials,' 'developing production technologies, such as design, weaving, and dyeing and finishing technology,' and 'cooperating in evaluating the performance of cool-to-touch materials.'

Every year, in the record heat of summer, the demand for clothing products made of cool-to-touch materials is steadily increasing, and as people stay at home longer due to COVID-19, interest in luxury bedding is also increasing. In line with this, Huvis is strengthening its lineup of premium cool-to-touch materials, such as PE (polyethylene) fiber 'Duraron,' which gives a cold feeling when touched, and 'Seaone,' which has excellent coolness and UV protection.

Last month in particular, the company succeeded in developing and commercializing 'Duraron- Plus,' a cooling material specialized for clothing and bedding, by changing the properties and strength of the existing Duraron. In addition, the company is also accelerating R&D to apply additional functions, e.g. various colors and minimal bleed-through to Duraron-Plus.

Seong Yoon Park, head of Huvis R&D Center, said, "Through this agreement with Korea Textile Smart Processing Institute, it is expected that diverse customer needs in the domestic and overseas cool-to-touch textile market will be satisfied, and the competitiveness of cool-to-touch composite functional material products will be further strengthened."
