Japan - INPEX CORPORATION (INPEX) announced that it will supply a carbonneutral liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipment of approximately 70 thousand tons to SHIZUOKA GAS CO., LTD. (SHIZUOKA GAS).

This carbon-neutral LNG shipment is scheduled to arrive at the Sodeshi LNG Terminal in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan, on September 4, 2021.

The Sodeshi LNG Terminal is operated by SHIMIZU LNG Co., Ltd., a SHIZUOKA GAS group company. The carbon footprint of the LNG shipment is offset using carbon credits applied to greenhouse gas emissions across the entire natural gas supply chain including upstream production, liquefaction, transportation, regasification, marketing and combustion by customers in Japan. The carbon credits used to offset the shipment's carbon footprint meet the Verified Carbon Standard deriving from greenhouse gas reduction efforts at global forest conservation projects, etc.

INPEX has set goals to achieve its own net zero carbon emissions by 2050, as outlined in its 'Business Development Strategy - Towards a Net Zero Carbon Society by 2050' announced in January 2021. This carbon-neutral LNG shipment is aligned with this strategy and is an initiative to provide a solution to the social need of utilizing natural gas in a cleaner manner.

INPEX will proactively engage in energy structure reforms towards the realization of a net zero carbon society by 2050 while fulfilling its responsibility for the development and stable supply of energy over the long-term.
