KEPCO Engineering & Construction Co. Inc. has signed a contract with Jordan Atomic Energy Commission, or JAEC, to provide site assessment service for Jordan's first nuclear power plant, or NPP, construction in Jordan. The project worth USD 15.28 million (around KRW 16 billion) is to examine and assess the suitability of the candidate site that JAEC selected for its first NPPs construction in accordance with strict international standards, like those specified by IAEA.

For the next 24 months, KEPCO E&C is tasked to assess the site suitability, to examine and assess the detailed plan for site allocation, to assess general environmental impacts and environmental effects of radiation, and to provide licensing support for site approval. Based on the findings of service provided by KEPCO E&C, the Jordanian government will determine the construction site for its first NPPs.
