The KT&G Welfare Foundation carried out its annual tree planting activity on the 13th at Bukhansan National Park, along with around 200 participants including college student volunteers and KT&G employees.

This year's tree planting was focused on restoring areas of the Bukhansan National Park Dobong branch that have been damaged by waste and illegal structures. Participants planted 1,500 indigenous trees to Bukhansan, including wild cherry and arrowwood trees, and conducted mulching and watering activities to support the newly planted seedlings.

Since 2013, the KT&G Welfare Foundation has been committed to preserving urban natural parks through its tree planting activities at Bukhansan, having planted a total of 15,000 trees in the area to date.

A spokesperson for the KT&G Welfare Foundation stated, "We have continued our tree planting activities for the past 12 years, hoping to contribute even slightly to the restoration of Bukhansan's forests and environmental improvement. We remain dedicated to actively addressing various environmental issues in the future."

Previously, from 2006 to 2012, the KT&G Welfare Foundation planted a total of 38,000 trees in the fire-damaged areas of Naksansa in Yangyang, Gangwon Province. In 2019, the Foundation also established the 'Mongolia Agroforestry Education Center' to combat desertification in Mongolia, continuing to engage in forestation activities necessary for ecological restoration both domestically and internationally.

Meanwhile, the KT&G Welfare Foundation was established by KT&G in 2003 to communicate with local communities and fulfill the corporation's social responsibilities. It operates eight welfare centers nationwide, providing community-based welfare services. Additionally, it practices sharing with the community by supporting low-income, marginalized groups and social welfare facilities, actively participating in solving social issues.
