At the end of June, the Chairman of the Board of the Masterflex Group, Dr. Andreas Bastin, and the Managing Director of REMONDIS Recycling GmbH & Co. KG, Jürgen Ephan, signed a cooperation agreement between the two companies. The aim was to set up an environmental service branch for industrial products made from technical plastics and to implement this in the market for hose and connecting systems. "There is no doubt that we are still at the very beginning of our journey towards a closed-loop system for industrial products made of high-tech plastics. As the Masterflex Group, we have decided to consistently follow this path. To this end, we recently launched our "Hero@Zero" strategic program. In the future, we will offer our customers the right hose not only from a technological and economic point of view, but also in terms of sustainability. This is how Andreas Bastin describes the start of the strategic cooperation. In a detailed interview between the renowned trade magazine "Technischer Handel" and Dr. Andreas Bastin, you can now gain exciting insights into the background and implementation plans of this ambitious Masterflex project.

Meanwhile, the concept and vision for a circular economy for plastic hoses by 2035 are in place. In addition to teamwork, Masterflex is focusing on clear identification of the hoses and developing solutions to make the materials used recyclable.
Dr. Bastin said: "The most important basic requirement is that the hoses are clearly identifiable - and we can ensure that. For about three and a half years, we have been using the Ampius NFC chip in all the tubing systems we sell, i.e. tubing plus connector technology. This allows us to clearly identify and track the life cycle of our hoses.
Dr. Andreas Bastin also emphasized that the Hero@Zero project will be a step-by-step transformation process. Masterflex is starting with industrial products, in particular extruded hoses made of various plastics, and is now working on optimizing the logistical recycling process.
