Public Joint Stock Company MegaFon (MISX:MFON) is in talks to sell its own cell tower operator, limited liability company "First Tower Company", Chief Executive Officer Khachatur Pombukhchan said in an interview with RBC. Various configurations for the deal are under consideration, he said. Forbes reported at the beginning of August 2021, citing sources, that First Tower Company and another tower operator, Vertical, planned going forward to hold an IPO on the Nasdaq via Ivan Tavrin's Kismet Acquisition Two special-purpose acquisition company (SPAC). MegaFon had some 18,000 towers at the end of 2020. "It benefits any mobile operator to spin off passive infrastructure in order to monetize it successfully, and you have to turn that company into a public one to do it to the full. I'm sure all market players will ultimately go in this direction," Pombukhchan said.
