Mellanox Technologies, Ltd. announced that 200 gigabit per second HDR InfiniBand has been selected by Eni to accelerate HPC5 – the world’s most powerful industrial supercomputer. The HPC5 supercomputer will deliver three times higher performance compared to the existing 100 gigabit EDR InfiniBand HCP4 supercomputer platform. HPC5 will allow generating faster data analysis during Eni operations, and will further accelerate Eni research and development of non-fossil energy sources, as well as support exploration, development and monitoring of oil fields during all stages. HPC5 will deliver 52-petaflop of computing performance utilizing both CPUs and GPUs, and 15 petabyte of storage, all connected in a full non-blocking 200 gigabit per second HDR InfiniBand topology to ensure efficient and direct connection among every compute server and storage system.
