April 26, 2024

TOKYO-Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL; President & CEO: Takeshi Hashimoto) today announced that an opening ceremony of a new joint-venture LNG carrier manning company called PT McMOL Crewing International (McMOL) (Note 1) was held on April 25 at Jakarta, Indonesia. MOL and PT MCS Internasional (MCSI), a manning company of PT Humpuss Maritim Internasional Tbk. Group (Humpuss)(Note 2), established McMOL in Indonesia in August 2023. McMOL will focus primarily on providing crew manning services for MOL Group's LNG carrier fleet.

The ceremony was attended by about 80 guests and MOL, including MOL Senior Managing Executive Officer Mitsuhisa Tanimoto, MCSI, and other ship management companies also participated. The event took place at the McMOL office, which was recently renovated to coincide with the opening of the new company, providing a modern and convenient workplace for the staff.

In his congratulatory address, Tanimoto expressed his high expectations for the staff and other relevant parties, saying, "MCSI has been providing excellent seafarers to our LNG carrier fleet for many years, and the opening of this joint venture will enable us to secure a stable supply of highly skilled seafarers to support our high-quality transport services and meet the needs of our customers as we look to expand our LNG fleet in the future."

Since MOL established a ship management company in Indonesia in 1986 with local partner Humpuss, it has focused on training Indonesian seafarers by introducing scholarship programs at local universities. With the increase of demand for LNG, an environmentally friendly clean energy resource with lower greenhouse (GHG) emissions than heavy oil, demand for transport by LNG carriers is expected to further expand, and the role of Indonesian seafarers in promoting safe operations is becoming increasingly important. MOL will proactively engage in seafarer training in Indonesia to provide stable, high-quality LNG transportation services that accurately meet customer needs by leveraging the knowledge of MCSI, its longtime business partner, and the know-how and network that the MOL Group has developed through the ownership and operation of the world's largest LNG carrier fleets.
