The governor of the Pomeranian region has issued construction permits for the offshore part of the Baltica 2 wind farm project being developed jointly by listed power group PGE and Orstede. These are the last permits necessary to start construction. According to PGE, the two construction permits issued by the Pomeranian region governor relate to a set of offshore wind farms with a maximum total capacity of 1,500 MW, together with the technical infrastructure associated with the preparatory, execution and operation stages of offshore wind farm Baltica 2. As reported, PGE and Orsted have contracted all the necessary components for the Baltica 2 offshore wind farm and have signed contracts for the installation of foundations, turbines and cables.

The partners have selected a general contractor for the onshore connection infrastructure, and the final step before construction begins will be for the investors to make a final investment decision. Baltica 2 is one of the two - alongside Baltica 3 - phases of the Baltica Offshore Wind Farm project. PGE and Orsted plan to complete the Baltica 2 stage, with a capacity of approximately 1.5 GW, by the end of 2027, and the Baltica 3 stage, with a capacity of approximately 1 GW, by 2030.

Baltica 2 and Baltica 3 will form the Baltica Offshore Wind farm with a total capacity of 2.5 GW.
