The Cambridge, Massachusetts-based company said it had profit of $1.61 per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to $1.77 per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.07 per share.

The business software company posted revenue of $474.2 million in the period, which also beat Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $428.8 million.

For the year, the company reported profit of $67.8 million, or 73 cents per share. Revenue was reported as $1.43 billion.

Pegasystems expects full-year earnings to be $2.75 per share, with revenue expected to be $1.5 billion.
