Porsche has announced that its Leipzig plant was named 'Plant of the Year' yesterday by the consultancy firm Kearney, in collaboration with Süddeutscher Verlag Veranstaltungen and the trade magazine Produktion.

The sports car manufacturer's production site in Saxony outshone its competitors and convinced the jury of experts during its visit last autumn. Nearly 100 factories worldwide were in the running for this prestigious industry award.

Porsche was singled out for its vision of an intelligent, connected facility thanks to its Smart Factory approach.

The automaker also defends its vision of a zero-impact factory with a focus on the circular economy, biodiversity and air quality.

Since 2017, the Leipzig plant has used only electricity from renewable energy sources, and its production has been announced as 'CO? neutral' since 2021.
