PT Kalbe Farma Tbk : THE COLLABORATION OF KALBE AND SAMUDERA IN DEVELOPING A DIGITAL LOGISTICS INNOVATION FOR MOSTRANS

Jakarta, August 8th, 2022. PT Kalbe Farma Tbk ("Kalbe"), through a subsidiary of PT Enseval Putera Megatrading Tbk ("Enseval") called PT Mostrans Global Digilog ("Mostrans"), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PT Samudera Indonesia Tbk ("Samudera") in order to develop a digital innovation in the logistic sector. The MoU instructs Samudera to invest 20% of its ownership to Mostrans.

"Disruptions in the digital era create new logistical obstacles. Therefore, the collaboration between Kalbe and Samudera through Mostrans is a strategic step to create a competitive advantage and encourage a faster digital transformation in the logistic sector," according to Vidjongtius, the President Director of PT Kalbe Farma Tbk.

Vidjongtius also stated that there should be a synergy between a digital technology innovation by Mostrans, supported by Kalbe Group as the market leader of health, with experiences, expertise, and networks from Samudera Indonesia. This synergy could potentially create a more comprehensive, digital technology-based innovation development strategy to improve performances in the logistic sector.

"The collaboration to implement a digital innovation in the logistic distribution activity is a strategic step for the growth of both companies," as stated by Bani Maulana Mulia, the Managing Director of PT Samudera Indonesia Tbk.

According to Bani, Kalbe, as Indonesia's proudest pharmaceutical company, will not only become a market leader in Indonesia, but also spread its wings in the international market. Kalbe's collaboration with Samudera has an objective of strengthening the synergy of advantages from each company. The distribution of its products both in domestic and export markets will still require a bigger space to grow.

Meanwhile, Berty Argiyantari, the CEO of Mostrans, stated that the company has currently created a solution called the B2B digital transportation platform in order to connect the ecosystem of health product supply chains.

The transparancy and simplification of the process, supported by an information technology system, will assist in solving several logistical obstacles.

As stated by Berty, "The innovation development strategy from the collaboration of Kalbe and Samudera through Mostrans will produce a more comprehensive digital-based solution to increase the performance of supply chains and raise the competitiveness of service users."
