Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon has reported a 40% increase in sales to Chinese handset manufacturers in the first half of the year. This growth is attributed to the stabilisation of the smartphone market in China and increasing demand for high-end phones, particularly those powered by Android and incorporating generative AI capabilities, which has driven growth. Qualcomm expects similar growth in the coming quarters.

Amon emphasises the importance of Qualcomm's position in the premium and high-end segment of the Chinese market, thanks to its Snapdragon processor. Collaboration with Android OEMs such as Xiaomi, OPPO, OnePlus, Honor and Vivo has strengthened Qualcomm's presence in flagship devices.

Amon then explores the impact of AI on devices, particularly with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 series mobile platform, which supports generative AI, offering innovative use cases such as real-time translation, photo editing and text generation. It envisages an exponential increase in AI use cases, transforming the way devices are used for productivity and entertainment.
