Spanish oil company Repsol has spent more than $300 million to clean up an oil spill in Peru and compensate affected people, CEO Josu Jon Imaz said Friday.

Although the company is not legally responsible for what happened, it has acted from the beginning, Imaz said, referring to a major oil spill in 2022. Some 10,000 people have received compensation, he added.
