COLOGNE (dpa-AFX) - Deutsche Telekom has two more prominent additions to its team for the European Football Championships in Germany. The former national player and ex-Kolner Jonas Hector (33) will present the half-hour late show "Studio Pille-Palle" with actor Fahri Yardin (43) ten times during the tournament, Deutsche Telekom announced at a joint digital press conference with RTL on Tuesday. The show will be broadcast for the first time after the opening match on June 14 between Germany and Scotland at 11.30 pm. Hector ended his career last summer.

Also new is former England international Owen Hargreaves (43). He played for German record champions FC Bayern Munich from 1997 to 2007. After retiring in 2017, he now works as a commentator for a broadcaster in his home country.

At the online event from Koln, Telekom and RTL also presented their plans for joint cooperation at the EURO in June and July. All 51 matches of the European Championships will be shown via the Telekom streaming service MagentaTV, five of them exclusively. RTL will broadcast twelve of the matches on its free TV program. These include one round of 16 and one quarter-final.

Magenta TV and RTL will use RTL's broadcasting center in Koln. They also have a comprehensive team of presenters, commentators and experts.

In 2019, Deutsche Telekom surprisingly received the complete media rights for the tournament from the European soccer association UEFA. ARD and ZDF have acquired sub-licenses from Telekom. Accordingly, the two public broadcasters will broadcast 34 of the 51 matches live. These include all of the German team's matches, the opening match, the semi-finals and the final./clu/DP/zb
