Santec, a leading designer and manufacturer of tunable lasers, optical instruments, and fiber-optic components, introduces the latest in their series of high performance tunable lasers, the TSL-550. The TSL-550 features wide, high resolution, mode-hop free tuning with an output that combines both high power and high signal-to-noise ratio. Equipped as standard with fine tuning and coherence control, the TSL-550 is fully programmable, making it a must have tool for precision optical testing. An innovative cavity design is used to lower the optical ASE noise, resulting in an extraordinarily high signal-to-noise ratio of over 90dB/0.1nm, whilst maintaining a high output power of over +10dBm.
The TSL-550 is available in two models: Type A, the standard, cost effective version includes a wavelength meter with +/-30pm wavelength accuracy. The other is the high accuracy Type C, with an absolute wavelength accuracy of less than 5pm.
The TSL-550 addresses the expanding needs for next generation component testing, driven by innovation in advanced photonic technology, silicon photonics and ROADM that require characterization of multi-input, high extinction ratio devices. The TSL-550 is designed to improve production inspection throughput by doubling the scan repetition rate over conventional lasers. In addition, combining the TSL-550 with Santec's range of test instrumentation provides turnkey solutions for measurement of WDL and PDL.
