SENSIO Technologies Inc. announced that it has developed a new version of its SENSIO(r) Hi-Fi 3D format which is compatible with the side-by-side decoders found in the vast majority of 3D devices available on the market. These 3D devices namely include 3DTVs, 3D digital receivers used by cable companies and other service providers, desktop computers and laptops, as well as virtual reality headsets. The new format is also compatible with the SENSIO(r) Hi-Fi 3D decoder, offering its users better quality than with conventional side-by-side decoders.

Another important benefit of the new encoding is its improved compressibility when used in conjunction with conventional video encoders like MPEG2, MPEG4 and HEVC. As a result, 3D content can be distributed at a lower bitrate without compromising image quality. In the coming weeks, SENSIO will be converting its entire 3DGO!(TM) movie library to the new format, which will make the service compatible with the vast majority of 3D devices on the market and provide a new lower bitrate profile to improve the robustness of the service under limited or highly variable bandwidth conditions.

When new movies will be added to the 3DGO!(TM) library in the future, they will also be encoded in the new format.
