Severfield has been instrumental in making this facility a reality for Portland College.

We're thrilled to announce our involvement in providing the steelwork frame for Portland College's new manufacturing training workshop in Sherwood Forest, one of the country's leading specialist colleges for people with disabilities. This new space will not only be a hub for learning essential tasks, but it will also provide learners with a hands-on experience of a real workshop environment.

Portland College has been able to carry out this exciting project thanks to the Towns Fund, a part of the Government's levelling up agenda. However, all funds were allocated prior to the onset of the cost-of-living crisis and Portland was faced with financial constraints detrimental to the build. In response to this, Severfield stepped in to help as part of our commitment to social value and supporting local communities.

The completion timeline for this project is set for less than a year, with learners expected to step into a state-of-the-art space by September 2024.

Hear from the students at Portland College about what this new facility means to them.
