Sumitomo Heavy Industries : SHI Establishes a New European Head Office in the Netherlands

Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Ltd. (SHI; Head Office: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Shinji Shimomura; hereinafter "SHI") has established Sumitomo Heavy Industries (Europe) B.V. (a wholly owned subsidiary of SHI; hereinafter "the new company" or abbreviated as "SHI (Europe)") in the Kingdom of the Netherlands to serve as its Regional Head Office in Europe.
Purpose of the new European head office
Europe is a key region for the SHI Group, possessing technologies, products, and markets that are deeply connected to SHI's main businesses.
In the Mechatronics segment, SHI is a market leader as a manufacturer of motors and power transmission and controls. Sumitomo (SHI) Cyclo Drive Germany GmbH (Germany) and Hansen Industrial Transmissions NV (Belgium) deal with Gearmotors, Lafert S.p.A. (Italy) and Invertek Drives Ltd. (UK) manufacture servomotors, high-efficiency motors, and inverters which address customers' needs for the ever increasing degree of automation and energy savings. And in the Industrial Machinery Segment, Sumitomo (SHI) Demag Plastics Machinery GmbH (Germany), a manufacturer of plastic injection molding machines, and Leifeld Metal Spinning GmbH (Germany), a maker of metal molding machines, and other business divisions are operating globally. In addition, the Sumitomo SHI FW Energie B.V. Group is developing technologies to provide solutions that contribute to a decarbonized society.
SHI (Europe) will strive to ensure that the SHI Group can conduct its business activities with enhanced consolidated strength. It will provide organizational support for business management and operations in terms of sales and service bases, accounting, and materials, and for efforts to strengthen business infrastructure, collaboration and governance. Its purpose will also work to expand SHI's market within Europe and globally from Europe. Moreover, SHI (Europe) will serve to flesh out European initiatives on environmental measures and regulations and sustainability within the Group and to develop diverse human resources and mobility.
