Monday, 20 November 2023 - Queensland Parliamentary Service is embarking on a digital transformation project, replacing many of its legacy systems. It is replacing its long-standing Financial Information Management System with TechnologyOne's highly secure Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software to support its core financial functions. The move to a modern solution will help the institution streamline its administrative and support services to the legislative assembly, its committees and members, fostering government transparency and public trust.

They will implement TechnologyOne's Financials, Enterprise Budgeting, Supply Chain Management and Contracts as part of their Software-as-a-Service solution, using TechnologyOne's innovative Solution-as-a-Service (SaaS Plus) approach which replaces traditional upfront costs with a single annual fee, simplifying the entire process of implementation, operation, and support. SaaS Plus addresses the key obstacles of time to value, cost, and complexity that often impede government investments in digital transformation.

Covering various electorate offices across the state, the Queensland Parliamentary Service needed a simple, intuitive, and secure solution. The transition from bespoke applications to a Software-as-a-Service model is pivotal in achieving these ambitions.

The Clerk of the Parliament, Neil Laurie, said: "We aim to be an innovative leader in the delivery of services, and streamline and automate many of our team's everyday tasks. SaaS Plus will help us get there quicker and within budget.

"We also want to make life easier for our stakeholders by providing an efficient and modern approach for interactions they may have with us. We're just beginning on SaaS journey and the future looks very bright.

"We went through an extensive assessment process and chose TechnologyOne's solution. We love the fact they are founded in Queensland and understand our needs and the needs of the people we serve," he said.

Headquartered in Brisbane and with 400 Australia-based developers, TechnologyOne offers a local understanding. Its solutions also exceed the highest Australian standards in security. The leading government enterprise SaaS vendor integrates and maintains the latest in innovative security and privacy technologies. Its SaaS solutions are IRAP assessed up to and including protected classified data.

TechnologyOne's CEO, Ed Chung, said: "The SaaS platform will deliver scale, best practice processes and continual improvement to the department and importantly, time to value will be significantly shortened thanks to our groundbreaking SaaS Plus offering. For too long, government innovation has been stifled by parties peddling outdated models to solve modern problems. To truly drive forward the productivity benefits SaaS brings with it, organisations need to be willing to push past those vested interests," Mr Chung said.

"Our proudly Australian solutions are trusted by more than 230 Federal and State Government department and agencies across Australia and New Zealand, including the Tasmanian and Western Australian Governments. We are genuinely excited about our partnership with Queensland Parliamentary Service as they embark on their ambitious digital transformation journey."
